Medica Santa Carmen Opens Its 4th Clinic

San Juan del Río, Qro, June 19th, 2014.- Medica Santa Carmen, a state-of-the-art network of integral care centers for patients with kidney failure, opened its fourth clinic in San Juan del Río, Querétaro. The company offers premium hemodialysis treatments to their patients and complements it service with outpatient, nutrition, psychology and other sessions.

Since December 2011, Medica Santa Carmen, a Venture Partners backed company, has been constantly growing its operations. Until today, the company had three clinics in the state of Queretaro with which it performed nearly 30,000 treatments for over 150 patients and with a zero in-clinic mortality rate. Clinical indicators are on-par with international benchmarks ISO:9000 for dialysis clinics and it is one of a select group that is Mexican Ministry certified (joint Commission equivalent).

In Mexico, diabetes is the leading cause of death. Only 25% of diabetic patients are treated properly. According to the National Kidney Foundation, 1:10 people are at risk of kidney disease. The Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) affects 1:1,000 people globally and 1:800 in Mexico (#1 in World). There are 150 thousand diagnosed patients with chronic renal failure and it’s expected to grow 10-15% annually. “Santa Carmen has a great potential in our country; we are excited to serve the growing patient needs", said Fernando Lelo de Larrea, Managing Partner of Venture Partners Mexico and investor of Medica Santa Carmen. In line, “Demand is wide, we are planning to reach 10 cities in the next 3 years”, said Andres Gutierrez, CEO of Santa Carmen.

Andres Gutierrez is an eager entrepreneur with ample experience in business management and logistics. He is Mechanical Engineer and has an MBA both from University of Texas.
