VC Day SF
October 17 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
On behalf of the Mexican Association of Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds (AMEXCAP), I want to thank you for your participation in the VII Mexico VC Day, last October 17th at 360 Lab, in the City of San Francisco.
This year, we are very satisfied and proud with the outcome. The event gathered over 160 attendees, bringing together key industry players from both Mexico and the US (26% Institutional Investors & LPs, 22% Entrepreneurs and Businesspersons, 21% General Partners, 17% Advisors and Financial Services Firms, 11% Government Officials & Local or International Organizations & 3% Family Offices). Besides, in terms of gender distribution, 25% of the attendees were women.
The event served as a platform to discuss the most relevant topics of the Venture Capital industry in Mexico. Luis Madrazo, Founder of “LML Economistas” presented Mexico´s economic overview. We also welcomed some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the region who shared, among other topics, their fundraising experiences. Likewise, Shu Nyatta, Partner of SoftBank, talked about the type of companies they are looking to invest in Latam and his thoughts on the Mexican ecosystem.
LPs presence on the event was outstanding. For the first time we are happy to report that 26% of the attendees were Institutional Investors and LPs. Particularly relevant was their participation in a panel where they discussed the perspectives on Mexico, with Shahril Ibrahim from Khazanah Nasional, Dan Farrell from Privos Capital, John Engel from 57 Stars, Brian Borton from StepStone and José Miguel Cortés from Fondo de Fondos (Mexico Ventures).
The highlight of the event was the release of the “Mexico VC Overview 2019”, a report of the Venture Capital industry in our country. This report provides an overview of trends in fundraising and investment among Venture Capital funds investing in Mexico since 1989 through September, 2019. This study is available in our web page:
We want to especially thank our 41 speakers, who kindly shared their experiences, knowledge and perspectives about different topics. They were all willing to interact and openly exchange points of view with the attendees; it is this kind of interaction that allows our Association to expand the networking and partnering opportunities for the Mexican Venture Capital industry. We are convinced of the importance of working together and collaborating to promote the creation of more investment projects for both countries.
