Solvento raises $12.5 million in Series A round, led by Cometa, to transform freight payments for trucking companies across Mexico and the U.S.

November 2024. Cometa III made a new investment by partnering with Solvento: a fintech platform providing payment automation, invoice financing, and liquidity solutions for the trucking sector in Mexico and the United States. The Fund led the company’s $12.5M USD Series A, which also included participation from investors such as Quona Capital, Ironspring Ventures, Dynamo Ventures, Proeza Ventures, Zenda Capital, and Endeavor Fwd Fund. Angel investors like Adalberto Flores (CEO of Kueski) and Tomas Bercovich (CEO of Global 66) also joined the round.

Solvento digitizes and streamlines payment workflows in the logistics sector for trucking companies in Mexico; their platform provides streamlined cash advances by automating the auditing, invoicing, and payment processing for freight transportation services, reducing the payment cycle and improving cash flow for truck drivers and logistics operators. Solvento’s solution unlocks liquidity in this industry, helping solve the truck driver shortage and allowing logistic operators to focus on operations and growth, already works with over 1,400 trucking companies and has originated over $180M USD.

“Historically, traditional financial institutions and fintechs have overlooked truckers, often deeming them uncreditworthy. This misjudgment stems from a lack of understanding of the industry’s dynamics and the immense challenges these hardworking and usually forgotten people face,” said Jaime Tabachnik, CEO at Solvento. “Truckers are the backbone of our economy, without them we wouldn’t have a functioning society.”

This investment will allow Solvento to expand its software and financial services across Mexico and enter the U.S. market, addressing the growing demand for efficient cross-border logistics driven by the nearshoring trend. Logistics in Mexico is on the brink of rampant growth and is projected to reach approximately $264B USD by 2030; however, the trucking sector, dominated by over 95% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), struggles with liquidity issues that hinder their ability to meet rising demands.

“We are excited to partner with Jaime, Guillermo, and Pedro on this transformative journey. Solvento’s outstanding team is leading the professionalization of supply chains in Latin America, with innovative financial solutions addressing capacity challenges. As nearshoring reshapes global trade, Mexico’s strategic importance grows, and Solvento’s cutting-edge technology is redefining supply chains, optimizing cross-border operations, and enhancing the region’s logistics efficiency.” Pepe Bolaños, Managing Partner at Cometa.
